I studied abroad in Florence, Italy for the Spring 2016 semester.
I had heard some of my older friends talk about how amazing studying abroad was and I was ready for a change of scene. On top of that I hoped to gain a sense of independence through a trip that would stick with me forever.
I definitely learned more about who I was as a person and became very independent since I did not know anyone else going on the trip. It was a challenge to be in a new city that speaks a different language and not know anyone but it forced me to go out of my comfort zone and meet new people. During my time in Italy I learned how to SLOW DOWN. Life doesn't always have to be a race from one point to another, as it often is for college students. It was nice to relax and take in the culture around me.
My study abroad experience brought me out of my shell as far as being able to talk to people I don't know that well which has definitely helped me in applying for jobs and putting myself out there for employers.
